Hip Hop: Beyond Beats And Rhymes

Full Movie ---> http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2020029531334253002&hl=en

HIP-HOP: BEYOND BEATS AND RHYMES is a riveting documentary that examines representations of gender roles in hip-hop and rap music through the lens of filmmaker Byron Hurt, a former college quarterback turned activist. Conceived as a “loving critique” from a self-proclaimed “hip-hop head,” Hurt examines issues of masculinity, sexism, violence and homophobia in today’s hip-hop culture. .

HIP-HOP: BEYOND BEATS AND RHYMES, produced and directed by NJ filmaker Byron Hurt, is a co-production of God Bless the Child Productions, Inc. and the Independent Television Service (ITVS) in association with the National Black Programming Consortium (NBPC). Executive Producer is Stanley Nelson. Executive Producer for ITVS is Sally Jo Fifer. Co-producer and Editor is Sabrina Schmidt Gordon.

(*100TH POST*) Self Destruction 2 (Jersey City)

When I first saw the link, I was like "hmmmm, I wonder how they gonna do it"? "How are they gonna pull it off", being that this is a CLASSIC HIP HOP SONG!! But they did. And with that Jersey Swagger. Whoever thought about doing this is a genius. We need this song to get airplay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL FEATURING HIP HOP LEGENDS!!

The Stop the Violence Movement was formed by rapper KRS-One.

During a Boogie Down Productions and Public Enemy concert, a young fan was killed in a fight; galvanized into action, KRS-One founded the Stop the Violence Movement. Comprised of some of the biggest stars in contemporary East Coast hip-hop, the movement released a single ('Self Destruction') in 1989 with all proceeds going to the National Urban League.
